A.
One annual regional seminar
|
|
To include representatives of organizations working on conflict resolution and peace-building including:
Permanent Peace Movement – Lebanon,
We’am Center in Bethlehem,
The Forum for Development, Culture and Dialogue,
The Mennonite Central Committee – Lebanon,
The Fellowship of Reconciliation – Lebanon,
Media Center for Arab Women – Jordan
Al-Liqa’ Center in Bethlehem
along with representatives of churches,
church-related organization, civil society and human
rights organizations, women’s organizations,
and theological institutes – both Muslim and
Christian. Furthermore, in the regional reach of the
FDCD, these seminars will include speakers and participants
from Cyprus who have been working on bi-communal activities
for the past time, and have been activities-communal
activities in the village of Pyla.
Theme for the regional seminar are:
- 2004: justice and human security, a international
conventions and grassroots application of human rights
principles (proposed location, Amman, Jordan)
- 2005: restorative justice, compensation and reconciliation – what
religions say about forgiveness (proposed location
Limassol, Cyprus)
2006: grassroots peace building – fragmented societies
and ideas for social integration

B.
Local training on conflict resolution skills
|
|
7 local training workshops, 3 days each, with the
intent of transferring knowledge of conflict resolution
training to the trainees. These would take place in
Egypt, Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Sudan, Cyprus and Palestine,
and the basic ideas addressed in these workshops include:
- Analyzing and understanding conflict
- Conflict resolution methodologies (the UN system,
tribal mediation, international arbitration)
- Dialogue and communication skills and techniques
